Virtual Cutter

Help on setting options

When you embed a player into a web page you have the choice of setting various options for the player. You can indicate the dimensions of the player, for instance, and whether the fragment should start playing automatically. The Virtual Cutter makes it easy to set the most important options of the various players. The options are reflected in the HTML code for the embedded player generated by the Virtual Cutter.

Procedure:

  1. Open the selection screen. Click the button. A window appears in which you can set the options for the player that is visible in the selection screen.
  2. The left column of the window contains a control that allows you to set or change the option. To the right you will find a description of that option. Most options have a default setting.
  3. There are three types of controls:

    Pick lists
A pick list allows you to select one of a number of predefined values for an option. In most cases the choices are TRUE or FALSE. Click on the arrow to the right of the pick list and select the desired value.

    Tick boxes
A tick in a tick box means the option is 'on'. If there is no tick, the option is 'off'.

    Entry fields
Entry fields allow you to enter a value.

  4. After setting the values you click the 'Store options' button. The options are stored for as long as the web browser is open.

If you generate HTML code in the selection screen by clicking the button after having changed the options, this HTML code for the integrated player is generated containing the changed settings.

Remarks:

You cannot save the settings for use in a later session.  When you close the web browser and open it again the Virtual Cutter will use the default values for the options.

Not all options supported by the various players can be set in this way. Read the manual on how to set the options by hand if you wish to set these other options.
